About this event

Celebrating the Australian Heritage Festival:

This short writing program is being held to empower our community members to write or be inspired to start an account or story of their own, or connect to the events of an ancestor’s life. The focus will be on sharing family histories through story.

Participants will be offered information and examples and learn skills through enjoyable writing exercises. Each workshop will include time dedicated to writing freely, and expert guidance in bringing to life in words participants’ chosen stories, whether a snapshot in time of a past time or an anecdote from family history.

About the Presenter:

Josephine Taylor is a writer and editor and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Writing at Edith Cowan University. She is a long-time resident in the Wanneroo area, having migrated from England in 1966, and has lived here most of her life since. Josephine teaches, facilitates and judges in literary fiction and creative non-fiction. Her creative and critical writing has been anthologised and published widely and her debut novel, Eye of a Rook (Fremantle Press), was shortlisted in the 2021 WA Premier's Book Awards. Josephine was a 2022 Emerging Writer-in-Residence at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre and is on the Board of Writing WA.
